Fried BBQ Chicken Burger

Hunter's Poultry Seasoning on Fried BBQ Chicken Sandwich

Ingredients:

For the fried chicken:

- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

- 1 cup buttermilk

- 1 cup all-purpose flour

- 5 tablespoons of Hunter’s Poultry Seasoning

-a pinch of salt

- Vegetable oil for frying

For the BBQ sauce:

- 1 cup Hunter’s Country Boy BBQ Sauce

For assembling:

- 4 hamburger buns, toasted

- Lettuce leaves

- Sliced tomatoes

- Pickles (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Start by pounding the chicken breasts to an even thickness, about 1/2 inch thick. This will help the chicken cook evenly.
  2. In a shallow dish, combine the buttermilk with a pinch of salt. Add the chicken breasts to the buttermilk mixture, ensuring they are fully coated. Let them marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (180°C).
  4. Remove the chicken breasts from the buttermilk mixture, shaking off any excess, then dredge them in Hunter’s Poultry Seasoning, pressing to adhere.
  5. Carefully place the coated chicken breasts in the hot oil and fry for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (75°C). Remove the chicken from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  6. While the chicken is frying, prepare Hunter’s Country Boy BBQ sauce. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until heated through and well combined.
  7. To assemble the sandwiches, spread a generous amount of BBQ sauce on the bottom half of each toasted hamburger bun. Top with a piece of fried chicken, followed by lettuce leaves, sliced tomatoes, sliced red onions, and pickles if desired. Cover with the top half of the bun.
  8. Serve the BBQ fried chicken sandwiches immediately, and enjoy your flavorful creation!

3 Tips for Cooking Poultry:

  1. Resting: Allow cooked poultry to rest for a few minutes before carving or serving to allow juices to redistribute, resulting in a juicier bird.
  2. Thawing: Always thaw poultry safely in the refrigerator, submerged in cold water, or in the microwave. Never thaw at room temperature.
  3. Trussing: Trussing poultry (tying it with kitchen twine) can help it cook more evenly and retain its shape.
